Towards more diverse regional waters by curbing nutrient loads (Rahimavesi)

The project aims to improve the condition of water bodies in Satakunta by carrying out practical restoration work.

The primary target water body is Lake Pyhäjärvi in Säkylä—the designated provincial lake of Satakunta—and the project is being implemented by Pyhäjärvi Institute. Practical restoration measures will be carried out at the Kiviranta wetland basin, located along the main channel of the Pyhäjoki River, and in the Iissalo island area in the eastern part of Lake Pyhäjärvi. These measures will improve nutrient dynamics in Lake Pyhäjärvi and the Pyhäjoki River, enhance biodiversity, and boost the recreational value these waters offer to local residents.
