The main objective of the project is to find alternative domestic protein sources for feeding meat production poultry. The aim is to support self-sufficiency and security of supply, as well as to improve the responsibility and climate resilience of production. Feeding tests carried out on broiler and turkey farms will be used to support the review.
The project will also promote animal welfare. During the project, the welfare indicators used in turkey production will be updated and their introduction will be piloted.
The main implementer of the project is Pyhäjärvi Institute, and the partners are HKFoods, Länsi-Kalkkuna, Hankkija, Satarehu and Boreal. The project will be implemented in the Southwestern Finland region.
