Developing a responsible and biosecure broiler farming method in southwestern Finland

The main goal of the development project is to secure profitable and growing broiler meat production on farms in Satakunta and Western Finland. The project’s short-term goals are related to minimising various farm-level economic losses and anticipating risks due to various reasons.

The project will strengthen the southwestern Finnish and Finnish broiler farming method and conceptualise its new technical implementation model, while at the same time updating the 3 different concept models of the current breeding farm to meet the current different requirements. In addition, the project will prepare a Biosecurity Management Program (‘Bioturvan hallintaohjelma’) for the farms, which will ensure the biosecurity of the breeding farm and the farm as a whole, including risks related to animal diseases.

The practical activities of the project will focus on developing various technical solutions and capacities to ensure both biosecurity and damage management. As a result of the project, profitable broiler production at the farm level will be secured and the necessary future repair and new investments in the growing market will be enabled.

The main implementer of the project is Pyhäjärvi Institute and the partner is HKFoods Finland Oy.
