Driving the dual transition paradigm, combined with demographic dynamics in Europe, urges a re-thinking of the Vocational Education and Training (VET) system to adjust current job and skill profiles to new frameworks. Being short-term, small educational pieces, micro-credentials deliver targeted learning and flexibility while at the same time assessment of learning outcomes and certification of knowledge at the end of the process. Despite the obvious benefits from introducing micro-credentials, there are still many open questions for their implementation in Europe. Responding to this, ERASMUS+ funded MASTERY – Micro credentials reliability unleashing green economy- project (2024-2026) supports and ensures the mutual application of micro-credential in all Europe. MASTERY will focus on the following objectives:
- To develop micro-credentials approaches for improving life-long learning options in industry
- To pilot actions for testing solutions on ground
- To produce policy recommendations for transnational application of micro-credentials thus ensuring portability and flexibility
The main sectors involved in the piloting phase will be the Wood, Agrofood, Building and Manufacturing. At least 3 key green skills in each selected sector will be processed with the micro-credentials process. The 13 pilot target will involve at least 100 workers or students coming from Italy, Spain, Finland, Bulgaria and Belgium. The piloting phase will be supported by pilot groups, i.e. multi-actor groups representing training institutions, the labour market, both public and private sectors, called upon to consolidate the micro-credential release experiences.
MASTERY is coordinated by Sistemi Formativi Confindustria SCPA (Italy). Pyhäjärvi Institute (PJI) is carrying out the project in Finland. Other project partners are Scuola Superiore di Studi Univeristari e di Perfezionamentos Anna (Italy), CLEANTECH BULGARIA and Confederation of the employers and industrialists in Bulgaria KRIB – The voice of Bulgarian Business (Bulgaria), Asociacion Empresarial de Investigacion Centro Tecnologico del Mueble y la Madera de la Region de Murcia, CETEM and Agrupacion Empresarial Innovadora de Fabricantes de Muebles y Afines de la Region de Murcia (Spain) and Association of Cities and Regions for Sustainable Resource Management, ACR+ (Belgium).
