More value to suckler cow farms with grazing expertise

The aim of More value to suckler cow farms with grazing expertise -project is to improve the financial profitability of suckler cow farms and secure the continuity of the industry by raising the level of grazing expertise of producers. During the project, the basics of grazing, the effects of grazing rotation and their farm-specific optimization, methods for reducing overgrazing and planning grazing, the environmental impacts of grazing, and the promotion of nature values ​​and biodiversity impacts will be reviewed, among other things.

The training project is divided into two sets of measures in accordance with its objectives, which are:

  • Increasing grazing expertise on suckler cow farms
  • Grazing demonstrations carried out on farms

The project will be implemented in the regions of Southwest Finland, North Karelia, South Savo, Häme (Kanta- and Päijät-Häme) and Satakunta. The main target group is the 576 suckler cow farms in the regions.

The main implementer of the project is Pyhäjärvi Institute and the partner is HKFoods Finland Oy.
