Supporting biodiversity in Lake Pyhäjärvi shore areas by restoring and enhancing habitats (Rikkaat rannat)

The main aim for the project is to enhance and secure biodiversity in shore and lake habitats and its natural flora and fauna. Target areas are situated in the Säkylä municipality in South-Western Finland. Lake Pyhäjärvi is listed in Natura 2000.

Main action in the project are:
• Restoring current conditions by removing and shattering homogenous reed growth
• Preventing aquatic plants overgrown in sheltered bay area by building openings in water flow restricting structures
• Increasing biodiversity in shore area woods by increasing decaying wood, birdhouses and nest material
